Description
The teaching of grammar in foreign languages has historically moved between two main approaches: the deductive approach, which begins with the explicit explanation of rules and then applies them in practice, and the inductive approach, which proposes that students discover the rules through examples and contextualized use. Both methods offer advantages and limitations that affect the development of linguistic and communicative competence.
This lecture will explore the principles, characteristics, and applications of inductive and deductive methods in grammar teaching, as well as students’ and teachers’ perceptions of their effectiveness. Practical examples from the foreign language classroom will be analyzed, and the possibility of integrating both approaches into hybrid pedagogical strategies that promote more meaningful and autonomous learning will be discussed.
This talk will be in Spanish.
