The Department of Spanish & Portuguese at the University of Toronto and the Consulate General of the Argentine Republic in Toronto are glad to invite you to a talk in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the publication of The Flight of the Tiger, novel by Daniel Moyano.
PLEASE NOTE: The lecture will be held in Spanish. Simultaneous interpretation to English will be available.
About the Presentation
The name of Daniel Moyano (Buenos Aires, 1930 - Madrid, 1992) is indelibly inscribed in the history of Argentine literature. After living through the bloodiest experience of the 20th century in Latin America - the dictatorships of the 70s -, exile marked his life and writing. In the 40th anniversary of the first edition of The Flight of the Tiger (one of his most relevant novels), it is necessary to return to his luminous biography and moving work. A tribute that is also an invitation for new readers.
About the Presenter
Juan Fernando García is a writer and cultural promoter who lives in Buenos Aires. He has edited many poetry books, most recently: Morón (2014); Sobre el Carapachay (2017) and Temporales (2018). He was editor of Muchos Libros Felices with Fabián Muggeri. He held a Writer's Residence at the Banff Cente for the Arts (2003). He is a professor ar the National University of the Arts, UNA. He collaborates frequently in Argentine national media, writing reviews and essays on literature and arts.

Daniel Moyano (Buenos Aires, 1930 - Madrid, 1992) está inscripto de forma indeleble en la historia de la literatura argentina. Atravesado por la experiencia más sangrienta del siglo XX latinoamericano - las dictaduras de los 70 -, el exilio marcó su vida y su escritura. En conmemoración de los 40 años de la primera edición de El vuelo del tigre (una de sus novelas más relevantes), es necesario volver sobre su luminosa biografía y su conmovedora obra. Un homenaje que es, también, una invitación para nuevos lectores.
Sobre el presentador
Juan Fernando García es escritor y gestor cultural, avecindado en Buenos Aires. Ha editado varios libros de poesía, entre los que se encuentran más recientemente Morón (2014); Sobre el Carapachay (2017) y Temporales (2018). Fue editor del proyecto Muchos Libros Felices junto a Fabián Muggeri. Participó en la residencia para escritores en Banff Centre for the Arts (2003). Es docente en la Licenciatura en Artes de la Escritura, UNA (Universidad Nacional de las Artes). Colabora en medios nacionales, con reseñas y notas sobre literatura y arte.
