UofT Language Genius: Student Creators of Innovative Language-Learning Platforms
When and Where
Speakers
Description
Join us for a hands-on session when our current and past ISPLAS students/alum creators present their innovative language learning platforms that aim to maximize real-time listening and speaking skills through scaffolded engagement with AI and user-driven content.
For language administrators, language teachers, and the forever language learner who wants to have more effective tools for (scalable) fun and engaging interactive language learning.
Amedeo Cunsolo (U of T 2023, Rotman Commerce/Italian Studies) is a self-taught developer who speaks four languages (Italian, Spanish, French, English), and he is the solo founder of Cadentia. A former CPA and finance controller. Amedeo left finance in January 2026 to build full-time. Amedeo will present his platform, Cadentia, which incorporates an AI voice tutor that corrects your speaking in real-time and transforms every mistake into personalized practice.
Cindy Zhang (U of T 2026, Linguistics/Physics/CompSci) is co-founder and research lead for Mora, and RA for "Bilinguals in Toronto", an ISPLAS research lab. Cindy has worked as a language teacher and translator, and with her global team has developed an evidence-based platform that helps learners engage authentically through user-generated short-form videos. Cindy will show us how Mora encourages learners from around the world to exchange language, culture and stories to advance in their own language learning.
Organized and moderated by Dr. Danielle Thomas and Dr. Paolo Frascà.
