AATSP-ON Call for Papers

The Ontario Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP-ON) is pleased to invite you to participate in its annual conference, to be held in person on Friday, October 20, 2023 and hosted by the Department of Spanish & Portuguese at the University of Toronto.

Identity and Diversity through Language Teaching:
Spanish and Portuguese in the Global Context

Invited Keynote Speaker – Dr. Kim Potowski, University of Illinois at Chicago

In keeping with the AATSP 105th annual conference theme, the topics of our chapter’s conference include (but are not limited to) Fostering Cultural, Linguistic, and Literary Connections, Exploring New Horizons, Valuing Identity and Diversity, and Supporting Lifelong Language Teaching and Learning. Other thematic sessions on literary and cultural studies as well as linguistics and didactics of ELE and PLE will also be featured in the program. 

Professors, researchers, teachers, graduate students and the general public are welcome to present papers in English, French, Portuguese, or Spanish. Presentations (15 minutes) will focus on the topics outlined below.

AATSP-ON ELECTIONS

The 2023 conference will include the election of a vice-president, a treasurer, and a secretary for the AATSP-ON Chapter. All members interested in nominating colleagues or themselves may do so until the conference dates. Positions will cover the period from January 2024 to December 2025.
