Biography
Anabela Rato is an Associate Professor and Associate Chair – Graduate of the Department of Italian, Spanish, Portuguese & Latin American Studies at the University of Toronto. She is also the Director of the Undergraduate Program in Portuguese Studies. She has a Licenciatura in Portuguese and English Teaching, an M.A. in English Language, Literature and Culture, and a Ph.D. in Language Sciences from the University of Minho, Portugal. Her research interests include second language and heritage language speech acquisition, speech perception and production, phonetic training, applied phonetics, and sound variation.
