Description

Our Latin American Studies program, in collaboration with the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto, are pleased to invite you to join us for a panel discussion on the recently held elections in Brazil. On Sunday, October 30th, the Brazilian electorate brought former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva back to power. Lula won with a narrow margin over right-wing candidate and current President Jair M. Bolsonaro.

In this panel, two political scientists visiting the University of Toronto from Brazil, professors Fabio Kerche (UNIRIO) and Marjorie Marona (UFMG), will provide an analysis of the institutional, social and political tensions that preceded the election, and assess what to expect in the coming months and years.
