Call for Papers for LAS Undergraduate Research Day

Our Latin American Studies program is delighted to announce the Call for Papers for the Ninth Annual Undergraduate Research Day, scheduled for Thursday April 18, 2024.

We invite all undergraduate students doing research on topics related to Latin America or its diasporas to submit proposals for presentations. Our URD is a one-day conference, conceived to allow (primarily) 3rd-year and above students to present any PAST course papers or research from independent studies to an audience of faculty members, graduate and undergraduate students. This setting provides an excellent opportunity to receive important feedback from a mixed (but expert) audience, in a friendly and exciting environment.

For this purpose, students must pre-circulate the article or piece of writing in which they will base their 20-minute presentation.

Please send all proposals (a 250-word abstract and the actual essay) to las.program@utoronto.ca . Please use as email subject: URD 2024 <Your Last Name>  by Friday, March 1, 2024. Make sure to include in the message your name, year, and areas of study. Also mention the course you presented this essay for and the final mark given for this paper by the instructor.

We aim to let students know of their acceptance by March 25, 2024. Complete schedule for the day will be posted shortly after.
