Description

Join us for a pedagogical workshop hosted by our department, open to any language instructor interested (free of cost to attend).

About the Workshop:
Twine is a software tool that simplifies the creation of interactive texts. This hands-on workshop will introduce the motivations to use such a tool for Second Language teaching, as well as various possibilities for its application in the language classroom. We will learn how to create a basic interactive fiction during the workshop, so if you join us in person a laptop is recommended for hands-on practice.

About the Presenter:
Ivan Fernández Peláez is an Assistant Professor (Teaching Stream) in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. Although originally specializing in Early Modern Spanish literature, in recent years he has been shifting his focus to language teaching and pedagogy. A particular interest is plurilingual approaches to language teaching and learning, and intercultural communication. As part of this approach, he has become interested in the uses of Interactive Fiction to create richer and more engaging scenarios for language and culture learning.

Please note: This event will be presented in a hybrid mode. If you wish to join us remotely, please register in advance for the Zoom session.
If you wish to attend the in-person session, there is no need to register in advance.
